As part of its development operations, Eurotunnel, the operator of the Channel Tunnel, has developed the ZAC I, located next to its rail terminal. This 75ha area in Coquelles consists of 4 sections:

  • a commercial area popular with French and foreign visitors which is home to the Cité Europe shopping centre and the Channel Outlet Store;
  • a leisure park including a 12-screen multiplex cinema;
  • a hotel zone offering a total of 285 beds;
  • a business park.

The Eurotunnel business park covers 53,000m² and includes a 25,000m² area available for construction. With its high-quality environmental and architectural standards, it provides the perfect setting for companies in the service sector. Around ten companies are based here, including the headquarters of Eurotunnel’s operational activities and the registered offices of MEDEF Côte d’Opale and Habitat 62/59 Picardie. In 2012, Eurotunnel opened the Opal Coast International Railway Training Centre (CIFFCO). Private office space for rent are also available.

ZAC I boasts a modern transport infrastructure:

  • direct access to the A16/E40 motorway (to Paris/Belgium/Eastern Europe),
  • rail links via the Channel Tunnel, a unique transport system for moving goods and passengers between France and the United Kingdom, plus high-speed rail services from Calais-Frethun TGV station to London, Brussels, Paris and Lille.
